The hospital does not directly employ the physicians, radiographers, pathologists and paramedics, and such services have been outsourced to the private individuals and institutions. However, a range of health care services offered include

PATIENTS

Private Patients

These are individuals and families directly responsible for their health care requirements. They pay cash for the services rendered by the hospital, and under normal circumstances no credit is ever extended to this category of patients.

For outpatient services consultation, radiology and pathology services are normally paid up front, while drugs and medical consumables are paid at the end. A deposit is otherwise demanded upon admission of a patient, and regular payments are required daily to reduce the amount payable upon discharge. An inpatient may only be released after a full settlement of an outstanding bill.

Medical Aid Patients

These are individuals and families supported by the medical aid providers for their health care requirements. The policy of the hospital is to take every medical aid, both from Lesotho, South Africa and beyond, on condition however, that the said medical aid provider is prepared to pay the hospital for the services rendered to its subscribers.

The medical aid patient is firstly positively identified and required to produce the medical aid card. For admission a pre-authorization must be obtained from the respective medical aid provider, with exception to emergency situations. A claim is then submitted through the EDI (Electronic Data Interface) system, with exception of the international providers to whom claims are made weekly through a manual system.

Institutional Patients

These are individuals (and rarely families) supported by the institutions that employ them. The institutions range from various entities, registered in terms of the laws of the country, or any reputable and legally recognizable international bodies and agencies.

Services rendered to institutional patients are normally provided on credit, and statements are produced monthly with details of services rendered to each beneficiary. Settlement should be within thirty (30) days of the statement date. The requirements include copies of registration (certificate of incorporation for companies), articles of incorporation/constitution, trading license, tax clearance and either the last audited financial statements (accompanied by management accounts if older than six months) or a bank reference.

  • Pharmacy

    Twenty-four (24) hour pharmacy services covering the in-patient, outpatient and general retail is directly managed by the hospital.

  • Emergency Services

    Twenty-four (24) hour emergency and outpatient services covering weekends and holidays.

  • Nursing Care

    Nursing care is the cornerstone of the business of Maseru Private Hospital.

  • Operating Theatre

    A wide range of elective and emergency major and minor operations including the caesarean section are offered.

  • Maternal Services

    Close midwifery care for mothers in labour, comprehensive care for the new-borns until discharge.

  • Pathology Services

    Outsourced investigative services provided regularly during the normal working hours every day and by request during the night.

  • Haemodialysis

    Haemodialysis services were offered since 01 October 2018. The unit is supported by a wealth of medical professionals which include, a nephrologist, a physician and nurses trained specially for renal services. The unit offers services to all patients with renal complications from Mondays to Saturdays, starting from 06.00 hours to 20.00 hours.
